We need to Connect, and Focallocal is a Great Project – by Dominika

Focallocal is a great project! Its so simple and i think that’s why it works and helps to connect people. We all live on the same planet, but in our cities and neighborhoods we don’t communicate or collaborate as one anymore; we forgot how much power people have when they get together – The power to build better world. To create a global connection we must start from local communities. We have forgotten that in a community we can share many things, skills, ideas, problems and solutions, and also happiness.

Focallocal are speaking at the LIFT Festival on Social Change, join us on the 18th June (London)

Andy at Focallocal (me) is flying back to London give our 1st public speech about our project and mission to bring people and local communities closer together. Please join us on Weds 18th June at the LIFT Festival on Projects for Social Change and Community Action. here’s the event intro:
A celebration of campaigners who demand change through sometimes bonkers and often beautiful acts held in The Yard Theatre, Hackney Wick. Yesterday’s eccentricity has a funny way of becoming today’s common sense. This is a celebration of people who campaign for unlikely things.

Road Trip: Paris part 2 – Magical events! ..and a catastrophe strikes the project!

The money was clearly gone (although I have spent many, many hours searching every corner of the van), and complaining about it wasn’t going to solve anything, so we headed out to meet our friend in Paris, the lovely Dora, who is probably the most enthusiastic and permanently happy person i’ve ever met..

Spreading smiles, joy and HUGS :) by Eirini

What would make a better ending of a two-week-trip in UK than a focallocal free hugs event? I ended up at the spot exhausted mainly by having to carry my backpack all day long. But somehow the friendly, multicultural environment cheered me up and I felt like I was riding on a wave of warm energy. Soon, I even forgot that I still had that backpack on my shoulders. There was no need to get rid of it anymore.
